Back to School Activities

Looking for some new "back to school" activities? Visit Super Teacher Worksheets at http://www.superteacherworksheets.com/beginning-of-year.html where you'll find ideas submitted by classroom teachers. You'll also find worksheet links in every subject, plus holidays, and teacher tools.

Great Thanksgiving Site

Visit this site, http://www.plimoth.org/education/olc/index_js2.html#, for a great interactive activity for your class to "investigate the first Thanksgiving." They will get to explore facts about the English colonists and the Wampanoag tribe, hear English colonist Edward Winslow's personal account of the first Thanksgiving read in Old English, complete a writing exercise, and more. This site also includes a teacher's manual.

Animoto Website

After visiting http://www.kn.att.com/wired/fil/pages/listweb20s.html, I decided to explore Animoto, a free video/photo creating website found at http://animoto.com/. These videos look professional and you can also add music. Though they are free to make, I like having the option to purchase them as well. The possibilites are endless for the use of these in the classroom. Students will be able to find multiple means of expression through this creative website.

Favorite Teacher Tube Video

I chose the TeacherTube video entitled "The Wait Is Over", found at

http://teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=82635&title=Solar_System___The_Wait_Is_Over

because it is a brief, attention holding introduction to the solar system and this is the subject of our class podcast we will be creating.
