Favorite Teacher Tube Video

I chose the TeacherTube video entitled "The Wait Is Over", found at

http://teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=82635&title=Solar_System___The_Wait_Is_Over

because it is a brief, attention holding introduction to the solar system and this is the subject of our class podcast we will be creating.

Podcast

I subscribed to the Podcast, "Sowing the Seeds for a More Creative Society" by Mitchel Resnick. I liked this Podcast because it is a challenge to schools and educators to view computers as creative tools for design and expression rather than mere dispensers of information. The curriculum implications are innovative, in that he challenges educators to step outside of the box and become guides for developing the inventive side of students, knowing that invention involves higher level thinking processes which can be achieved through this unconventional approach to computer use and teaching. What I didn't like about the Podcast was that the presenter used many visuals which of course were not possible to see, but only hear about.

Welcome

I am Ronda Williams, a fifth grade teacher. I am a graduate of Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and Elementary Education. Currently, I am working on a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. In my fifteen years of teaching, I have taught Kindergarten, fourth through sixth grade, and eighth through twelfth grades at nine different schools. It doesn't matter in what grade or school I find myself; I just love to teach!

The purpose of this blog is to serve as a forum for educational issues, ideas, and inspirations. To teach is to learn and I hope I can learn from you!
